UNDERWATER ROBOT SUMO TOURNAMENT
The “Sea” Themed Underwater Robot Sumo Tournament will open up 10 places for Schools/Organizations/Individuals to apply on a team basis.
The competition will start with a preliminary round at “single round-robin tournament”. The 10 teams will be divided into two groups (east and west coast). With 5 teams in each group. Upon completion of the preliminary round. Each team will enter to “elimination tournament” with their rankings form the preliminary round to compete for the championship.

TOURNAMENT SYSTEM
- Each match will be decided by 2 out of 3 games.
a. Preliminary Round – Winner 3 points, Loser 1 point, tie 2 points each.
b. Second Round – The winner will advance to the next round. - For each match, each team must pre-select 3 operators and 1 underwater sumo robot that meets the competition specifications to conduct the game.
- In each game, each side sends one operator and one underwater sumo robot. An operator cannot appear twice within a match.
- During the match, the Operator has to use the controller to operate the Sumo Robot to push the opponent’s Sumo Robot to the boundary of the field in a specific three-dimensional space in the water. When either Sumo Robot exceeds or touches the boundary, the opponent will get one point. Both players have to get back to starting point and start the game again. The team that scores more points within the time limit ( 1 min/game ) with the game.
- Preliminary Round (Single round-robin Tournament)
– 10 teams will be divided into 2 groups of 5 teams each (East / West Coast Group) by drawing lots. The result of each team in the preliminary round will be the basis for qualifying for the second round. - Second round
– 10 teams will based on their group results. The 4th and 5th place of each group will have to play one more match to confirm the final 8 teams. The format will be the same as the preliminary rounds. - If the match is still tied after the 3rd round, an extra round will be played to determine the result.
- Each underwater sumo robot needs to be constructed with PVC pipes.
- The size of each underwater sumo robot must be less than – 35cm (length) x 25cm (width) x 25cm (height).
